She produced the most outré art, liked to cross-dress and had a penchant for living in ménages à trois. And yet, despite once being infamous around the world, Leonor Fini is all but forgotten these days. – Sarah Kent

Their eyes seem too large. And their shoulders. Strong images of powerful women. Leonor Fini was a surrealist painter in the 1930s. She was associated with Andre Breton, the poet. She did not want to be considered a surrealist. Her paintings are often gorgeous. So why is she almost forgotten? Is it the obvious? That she was a woman in a very ‘macho’ world of Picasso and Hemingway?
