Andrei Varga

11 08 2015

Andrei Varga. These particular pieces are part of a series of paintings that Andrei has done. A series called Unsaved memory. They are portrait paintings that both seem to hide behind the paints and emerge out of the paint. A kind of tease. I immediately wanted to put a date on them. I don’t know why. But they do not look like faces from say the middle ages, the 19th century, or the 20 century. Are they faces from the future? Have they yet to fully emerge? Are we on the brink of seeing them? Like faces out of a crowd. That is my experience.
