Lucian Freud

I have found Freud’s work almost painful to look at. The characters all look like they’re in some long drawn out depression. Or at least a bad mood. Nevertheless it is beautiful work. He is in a way handicapped by his family’s name. People automatically associate his work with Sigmund Freud’s ideas. Perhaps someone could make a case for it but I don’t see it.





Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry

Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry was a Hungarian painter who was part of the avant-garde movement of the early twentieth century. Working mostly in Budapest, he was one of the first Hungarian painters to become known in Europe.
