Andy Kehoe

30 11 2014

I don’t know if they are brothers. Andy Kehoe and Ben Kehoe. Of course they could be the same artist. Like Vincent and Van Gogh. They are both amusing. In an offbeat and satirical way. Even their mother can’t tell them apart. Unless they have 2 mothers. Andy’s work does remind me of the Canadian north. And that great hero, Dudley Do-right. Of the Mounties.

Ben Kehoe

29 11 2014

He (Ben Kehoe) lives in another world. One not too far from The Family Guy. I was going to put a clip from the show in here but they are pretty crude… Ben Kehoe’s work is not crude. But a little tongue in cheek. Or a least a grin. Like the Bob Newhart Show.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

29 11 2014

At the age of 13 Henri fractured his right thigh bone and, at 14, the left.[5] The breaks did not heal properly. Modern physicians attribute this to an unknown genetic disorder, possibly pycnodysostosis (also sometimes known as Toulouse-Lautrec Syndrome),[6] or a variant disorder along the lines of osteopetrosis, achondroplasia, or osteogenesis imperfecta.[7]Rickets aggravated with praecox virilism has also been suggested. His legs ceased to grow, so that as an adult he was extremely short. He had developed an adult-sized torso, while retaining his child-sized legs.[8] He is reported to have had hypertrophied genitals.[9]

Physically unable to participate in many activities typically enjoyed by men of his age, Toulouse-Lautrec immersed himself in art. He became an important Post-Impressionist painter, art nouveau illustrator, and lithographer, and recorded in his works many details of the late-19th-century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Toulouse-Lautrec contributed a number of illustrations to the magazine Le Rire during the mid-1890s.

Even with such physical handicaps Henri immersed himself in the society of his time. He must have been a lot of fun.

Kadar Bela

29 11 2014

You can see almost all of the artistic schools in the work of Bela. But it is difficult (for me) to see something distinctive, something that makes the work a ‘Bela’.

Randy Mora

29 11 2014

I must say I like his work. Randy Mora. Mostly. But I ask myself what makes his collages seem… unified. There is a neutral background. (And neutral colour) Upon which all the other images appear. And the images seem to grow out of each other. Rather than drift like planets in their solar system. And the images are very 50ish. A popular time for collage creators. His cuts are not seamless. He lets you see where the puzzle parts appear but the cuts are clean. And this fits in with the 50ish images. And I doubt that I will ever create anything that looks like these.
