Every so often you come across an artist who turns your crank. Frees you. Gives you a different slant on things. That’s Holly Roberts. She has taken collage to a different room. Moving away from the patchwork texture work toward images that are representative. Okay, I’m starting to slip into ‘psuedo’ territory. But have a look at her work. It is deceptively sophisticated.

Thomas Woodruff

Woodruff’s work is very dark. I mean… dark. I’m not sure about his images. Many times they look iconic. Tigers. Daggers. He is the kind of artist that you either love or hate. I like most surreal work. Which makes me wonder why I’m not crazy about his work. I like it. But my reaction is rather tepid. On the other hand, I’m hungry.
