I know almost nothing on the topic. Forgive me for… guessing.  About women in the surrealist movement. Some have proclaimed them as warriors,  as being on the edge of the women’s equality movement. One such is Valentine Hugo.

Here is a pic of Valentine with her husband and the writer Raymond Radiguet. They were not the beatniks of their day. But they were outsiders.With her husband she was a stage designer. Her work is interesting but… there is very little of it available. And I’m not sure that everything on the net that is attributed to her is accurate. This is the reward of being a minor figure in a movement. If anyone is looking for a topic for their thesis in modern art these women might be it.
