Naoto Hattori

“My vision is like a dream, whether it’s a sweet dream, a nightmare, or just a trippy dream. I try to see what’s really going on in my mind, and that’s a practice to increase my awareness in stream-of-consciousness creativity.”

That’s what Naoto Hattori would like you to believe. Naoto’s work is fabulous. But like too many artists, they want to become psychologists. Or Andre Breton.  Michelangelo said that the sculptures were inside the marble. He just had to release them. I like that. Better than stream-of -consciousness. Stream. That’s what the doctor asks you when you’re discussing your prostrate. Why don’t they say they get a gusher-of-consciousness. Or a torrent. But stream. Or brook. Anyway I’ve gone on too long. And at my age any moment could mean a trip to the john. And one of those streams.
