Smut

19 11 2011

We were walking through the ruins of Pompeii. There was graffitti on the wall. It was graphic. And funny. Pornography should have an expiry date on it. What is titillating or scandalous for one generation can be funny or worse, boring for the next. Of course the people who produce smut are as sleazy as the stuff they produce. In their time. Later they become caricatures. Its hardly believable that society produced such characters. One would not say it was evil. More like silly. And it is history.

The question is not what attracts people to smut. It is, what attracts people to escapism? Is it possibility? Or a pillow planted strategically over their face while they are dreaming? Or boredom?

(Illustrations taken down because of the objection of the curator of the sight they came from. I confess I have a problem with people who don’t want more attention thrown their way. )

(He’s also very cranky. Doesn’t need or want publicity. Which begs the question.)

Every one of the images on the post above were used without permission from the Vintage Sleaze blog. Many are not even “vintage” they are contemporary works of art CREATED for the site and are used here without permission of the artist. Just thought I would let you know. Either credit the artists and collection, or remove the post. Fair is fair. Some of the images used and labeled specifically on the original site as not to be used without the permission of the creator.
