Jeremy Mayer

I can remember it like it was 20 years ago. I walked passed this parking lot. And did a double take. Piled up to about 20 feet and covering one end of the parking lot were corpses. Typewriters. It was the end of an era.

Jeremy Mayer has taken all these old typewriters and made sculptures out of them. And they are very amusing.

Carly Swenson

Carly Swenson is a purposeful (I’ve never used that word before), ambitious, bright, talented young artist. This is both her strength and her weakness. She is confident. I think. Well, as confident as an artist can be. Artists are not a lot different than actors. They feel compelled to talk about their art. By which they mean themselves. Carly shows splashes of humour and delight in her work. When she is playful, it is very good. When she is trying to be an artist it can be… (I won’t say it. You look at her work.) As an artist she seems very likeable. But she suffers what a lot of artists suffer from and that is… credentials. She has a wonderful blog, well worth reading.http://nakedcarlyart.wordpress.com/

Walking

Another one of these wonderful animations by BLU. For those who haven’t seen these before the animation is painted on walls, floors, ceiling, basically any surface. And filmed. As you can imagine it is tremendously time consuming. But usually charming and inventive.
