Alternate Universe

There is a  parallel side to this blog. It is one in which I present more of myself. My thoughts. My work. . etc. You can have a look by hitting the words below. I must warn you I am cranky first thing in the morning.

Marcel Ceuppens

Mr. Ceuppens work is minimalist. I don’t say that he belongs to a particular school of art. But his work is simple. There is very little in each piece. But there is a story in each of his pieces. I’m not sure what to make of it.

Luis Toledo

It is always fun to watch kids making art. First of all they are very intense. And they for the most part like to talk to their neighbours (like a sewing circle). Its like they have 2 brains. Oh ya, that’s multitasking. Some pick colours that have to be exact. The sun must be yellow. Others pick colours randomly. But what they all seem to do is fill in every space on the page. White is the enemy. And that’s what bothers me about Mr. Toledo’s work. Not just him but a lot of digital artists. They have a lot of interesting ideas but they insist on putting them all on the same page.

Lola Dupre

I love these pieces. But for a moment I thought Lola Dupre was a one trick pony. Far from it. Check out her sight on flickr. She is fabulous.

torn curtains

This is a whim. I was looking for a kind of material for a collage when I happened on a curtain sight. And saw these curtains. It wasn’t an artist’s sight. It was a store’s sight. I thought they were clever enough to expose. I’m a little surprised an artist hasn’t come up with this idea.
