C. Albert

C. Albert is  a poet as well as an artist. Check out her blog. Much of her poetry reads like the surrealists. I suppose this was to be expected from a collage artist. I like her work. But believe more attention has to be paid to it before I can really feel comfortable there. Compare one of her pieces to Chagall. The resemblance is uncanny.

in the wind of a sneeze

i wanted to build a house
the way ants do
hauling tiny crumbs
four times their own size
its brick walls would stack neatly

i wanted people inside
but didn’t plan on a naked man
and a girl floating
as if to escape

my scissors took over
irregular rectangles fell
bricks sailed
into dizzying alignments
and windows flew away
on the wings of black birds
