The Property of Lee Harrison Peeters

Chapter Thirty Seven: Salvation

Fog. Josh battles his way through the water. Suddenly his hand falls on a rock. He grabs it. And pulls himself out of the fog. He has found an island. Looking back through the fog he spots the stranger, still on the boat. The boat is all a fire.

The stranger bends over his dog. Whispers in his ear. A moment later the dog jumps into the river. The current is so strong that it takes all the dog’s energy to swim. Josh can see that the dog won’t make the island so he jumps into the water and grabs the animal, pulling him ashore. The dog lies on the beach, gasping for breath.
